Samsung's Internet Browser is poised for a significant upgrade, adding support for multiple windows in the upcoming One UI 9 release. This move directly addresses a key area where the browser has lagged behind competitors like Google Chrome.

The update, slated for a beta launch in May for Galaxy S26 and S25 series, allows users to open several browser windows simultaneously. This is a direct response to users juggling multiple tabs for tasks like tracking live sports scores or comparing prices across different websites.

This functionality mirrors a feature already available on Chrome, which introduced native multi-window capabilities last month. While Samsung has offered limited multi-window options on devices like the Galaxy Z Fold, this will be a more comprehensive implementation.

Furthermore, the Samsung Browser is also testing an "Ask AI" feature, allowing users to query information directly from the webpages they're viewing. This feature, currently in beta, offers options for automatic deletion of AI activity, with initial availability focused on the U.S. and South Korea.

The potential for cross-device resume functionality, hinted at in debug settings, suggests Samsung is keen on improving the user experience across its ecosystem. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Flip 8, expected later this summer, are likely to receive One UI 9 with these enhancements pre-installed.

While Chrome dominates the mobile browser market with a 69% share, Samsung Browser has steadily gained traction since its 2017 launch. Its presence on Pixel devices, alongside its availability on Samsung devices, indicates a wider appeal. The improvements may not be enough to challenge Chrome’s position, but they represent a significant step forward.

The rollout of these features will be gradual, starting with beta programs for select Galaxy devices. This represents a tangible commitment to enhancing the browser experience, a factor that could sway users already invested in the Samsung ecosystem.
