Currently, flagship phones like the Pixel 10 and Galaxy S26 rely heavily on LPDDR5X memory. Switching to LPDDR6 would translate to considerably higher bandwidth, offering a critical advantage when it comes to AI-powered features. Google’s recent investment in AI, evidenced by additions like Camera Coach and Magic Cue, fuels the need for this upgrade.

Beyond the ram: geekbench scores tell the story

Early Geekbench 6 multicore testing highlights the issue starkly. The Pixel 10 lagged considerably behind competitors like the Galaxy S25 and even the iPhone 17.
