Motorola razr fold pre-orders set to kick off april 11th, bundled with moto pen ultra

Motorola has officially announced that pre-orders for its highly anticipated Razr Fold will begin on April 11th in the U.K., with a special offer including a Moto Pen Ultra. This marks a significant step for Motorola in the competitive book-style foldable market, directly challenging the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold series.

Motorola's bold bet on foldable dominance

The Razr Fold, positioned as a direct competitor to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, boasts a substantial 8.1-inch internal P-OLED display with a peak brightness of 6,200 nits. Complementing this is a 6.6-inch external display, promising versatility for users.

Powering the device is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 application processor (AP), a high-end, value-oriented SoC. While not the top-tier Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 found in the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, it still delivers considerable performance.

Motorola is doubling down on durability with the Razr Fold being the first smartphone to utilize Corning's Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3. Internal testing revealed a 75% improvement in drop performance compared to previous generations. This commitment to resilience is a welcome development for foldable devices.

The company’s renewed focus on clamshell foldables follows successful improvements made to the Razr+ in 2023, notably increasing the size of the Quick View external display to 3.6 inches. This innovation prompted Samsung to enhance its own Galaxy Z Flip series, increasing the Cover Screen size on the Galaxy Z Flip 7 to 4.1 inches.

Motorola’s history with Android innovation provides a solid foundation for trust. The original Motorola Droid, launched in 2009, revolutionized the smartphone market. Subsequent models, including the Droid Razr and Moto Z series, solidified Motorola’s reputation for delivering compelling devices.

The upcoming Razr Fold will feature a versatile camera system, including a 50MP Sony Lytia 828 main sensor, a 50MP ultrawide lens, and a 50MP periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. Selfies will be handled by a 20MP front-facing camera on the external display and a 32MP camera on the internal display. A 6,000 mAh battery is slated to provide all-day battery life, and the device will launch with Android 16.

The Motorola Razr Fold will retail for €1,999 (approximately $2,308 USD) in the U.K., with the FIFA World Cup 2026 edition including the Moto Pen Ultra. The device is remarkably thin when folded, measuring 4.6mm, and 9.9mm when closed.

Motorola has launched a dedicated website for the Razr Fold, and details for the U.S. pre-order date are anticipated soon.

The device’s launch underscores Motorola's ambition to re-enter the upper echelon of foldable smartphones. The company’s past successes suggest a strong contender has arrived.
