Leaked Renderings Reveal Apple iPhone Ultra’s Pixel-Like Fold Display

Next month, Apple is set to unveil its highly anticipated foldable iPhone Ultra. However, recent leaked renders have highlighted a design element that’s drawing criticism: the phone’s external display doesn’t fully meet the edges of the chassis, mirroring a design feature seen in Google’s Pixel Fold.

Distinctive Design Raises Purchase Concerns

According to the leaks, Apple’s foldable flagship will feature an external display with noticeably rounded corners, leaving a visible gap along the edges. This design is strikingly similar to the Google Pixel Fold, where the external screen’s curves diverge from the device’s frame.

A poll conducted among potential buyers revealed mixed reactions. Less than 20% indicated they would still purchase the iPhone Ultra despite the design quirk, citing the long-awaited arrival of a foldable iPhone. Approximately 31% considered the design a dealbreaker, abandoning their purchase intentions. Over 50% stated they would require a hands-on experience before making a decision.

Expert Opinion and Potential Impact

Elizabeth Martin, a tech reporter, notes that while the wide-folding design presents a greater hurdle, the display’s deviation from the chassis isn’t a significant concern. She suggests that Google Pixel Fold enthusiasts might ease Apple users into the new form factor. “If Google Pixel fans keep buying the Pixel Fold phones, then Apple users will almost certainly have no problem adjusting to the iPhone Ultra’s design,” she wrote.

Despite the reservations, Martin anticipates strong sales for the iPhone Ultra, emphasizing that the outer screen primarily serves functional purposes and doesn’t necessitate immersive media consumption.
