Google's find hub now tracks luggage, sharing location with airlines

Google has enhanced its Find Hub service to allow tracking of luggage and sharing its location with airlines in the event of loss.

Find Hub, a Google tool, previously enabled users to keep mobile devices, watches, and headphones located while also tracking devices placed in bags and briefcases, sharing that information with friends and family.

Now, travelers can share the location of their checked bags or carry-on luggage directly with airlines through the Find Hub app or website. This innovation aims to give passengers more control over lost or missing luggage.

Google has partnered with ten global airlines - Azjet, Air India, China Airlines, Lufthansa Group (Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, and Swiss International Airlines), Saudia Airlines, Scandinavian Airlines, and Turkish Airlines - to accept Find Hub location data as part of their lost baggage recovery processes.

To make this tracking more effective, Google has also collaborated with SITA and Reunitus to integrate Find Hub Technology into WorldTracer and NetTracer, already used in baggage operations. This ensures that whether a passenger flies with a major airline or a regional partner, the tools for locating lost luggage are more interconnected and efficient than ever.

Samsonite luggage is the latest to be integrated with Google's Find Hub network, allowing the bags to connect to the location sharing service without needing a tracking device inserted.
