First announced during Apple's 2024 Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) keynote, Siri AI was touted as a revolutionary AI-powered virtual assistant that could access and utilize information stored across a user's iPhone, including emails, messages, podcasts, calendar events, and more. This would enable Siri to provide more personalized and context-aware responses to users' queries.

Apple continued to promote Siri AI in subsequent ads and demos, but the feature's actual release was repeatedly delayed. The tech giant faced criticism for the delays and the confusion they caused among iPhone users eagerly awaiting the new AI-powered Siri.

Settlement reached over siri ai delay

In May, we reported on a $250 million class-action settlement Apple had agreed to pay out to iPhone buyers affected by the delays in Siri AI's release. The settlement, which covers those who purchased certain iPhone models between June 10, 2024, and March 29, 2025, allows eligible claimants to receive up to $95 each.

Today, a US judge has granted preliminary approval to the settlement, clearing the way for the creation of a dedicated website where iPhone owners can submit their claims. However, the actual process of filing claims and receiving payouts is expected to take several months.

For now, iPhone users can look forward to experiencing the long-awaited Siri AI on their devices, albeit a feature that has already been surpassed in capabilities by rival AI assistants like Gemini and ChatGPT.
